Awareness Importance

Spreading eating disorder awareness is essential because it makes individuals aware of what behaviors are warning signs of someone developing an eating disorder. The identification of these behaviors is helpful because some individuals don't realize that the behaviors they engage in regularly are actually signs of having disordered eating. For others who partake in these behaviors, knowing the negative impacts they are having on their body and mind, if family and friends are aware of the behaviors, they can get the individual the help they need before it's too late and the individual has done irreparable damage to their body. Additionally, if family and friends can spot the warning signs and behaviors, they may be inclined to treat the individual with more grace than usual. Making them aware of the mental turmoil that's going on inside the individual's head and the pain they are going through physically and mentally could help them understand the individual more.
